Soprano Izabela Matula was born in Poland. Her 2017/2018 schedule highlights are Rusalka premiere in MagdeburgEugene Onegin premiere in LinzTosca in Düsseldorf as well as Wiederaufnahmen of Darmstadt Tosca and Krefeld Lohengrin and Consul. Her engagements for 2016/2017 season included premieres of Katja KabanovaLohengrin and Menotti’s Consul with Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach ensemble and Tosca premiere in Staatstheater Darmstadt.

Before graduating as opera singer from Cracow Academy of Music, she studied piano, theory of music and composition. During her studies and afterwards she partecipated in numerous vocal courses and masterclasses – among others, those of Teresa Berganza, Charles KellisIleana Cotrubas, Charlotte Lehmann and others. Currently remains under vocal coaching of professor Neil Semer. She took part in many international vocal competitions such as Ada Sari International Vocal Competition (2nd prize), Wilhelm Stenhammar International Singing Competition (3rd prize). She also represented Poland in BBC Singer of the World in 2009, reaching 2nd round.

For 5 years she was member of Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach ensemble, where she sang parts such as Maria (Mazeppa), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro), Lina (Stiffelio), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Antonia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera) and the title role of Katja Kabanova. As guest soloist Izabela appeared in numerous theatres and concert halls all over the world such as Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg(K. Penderecki, Powiało na mnie morze snów – cond. V. Gerghiev), Landestheater Detmold(Suor Angelica), Teatro Massimo di Palermo (J. Weinberger, Švanda dudak) ABAO Bilbao (La boheme), Simón Bolívar Concert Hall in Caracas(K. Penderecki, Kaddish), Berliner Konzerthaus, Theater Bonn, Doha Concert Hall, Opera Baltica (Gdansk), Summer Opera Festival (Bergen), Wroclaw Opera, Darmstadt Koncerthaus, Staatstheater Saarbrücken (Turandot – Liu), Musikverein Graz, Warsaw National Philharmonic, Cracow Opera.
